Menopause
The menopause is a stage in life that marks the end of a woman’s reproductive years, typically occurring in a woman’s late 40s to early 50s. During the menopause oestrogen and progesterone levels fall, resulting in a variety of symptoms such as hot flushes, vaginal dryness, bladder weakness, abdominal weight gain and emotional changes. Changes in bone metabolism can also leave women vulnerable to developing osteoporosis. HRT (synthetic oestrogen) is often used to deal with menopausal symptoms, however long term use of HRT carries significant risks. There are natural alternatives to HRT to support a women’s journey through the menopause and certain key nutrients can help alleviate symptoms associated with the menopause.
